Kimmy Thomson is a mosaic artist working with discarded crockery, found objects and reclaimed tiles. Her artistic practice sits between contemporary design and naive image-making, using bold shapes, simplified forms and strong composition. She is drawn to the histories carried by broken objects - traces of use, damage, ritual and domestic life embedded within them. Kimmy Thomson’s mosaic creation is a process of reconstruction and fragments reassembled, into new visual relationships and renewed meaning. Through this process,  her work is about giving fractured materials a new life, where damage, memory and reinvention becomes a new source of beauty.
