South West Mosaic Artists

After retiring from a career as a mental health practitioner in the NHS I finally have enough time to pursue my passion for mosaic making. I work from my home in Brixham, South Devon. My tiny venture, Heartfelt Mosaics, is literally a kitchen table business although seems to be spreading to other areas of our house! Someone pointed out that, maybe, this new direction isn't so different from my previous role. Now instead of piecing together broken minds my work brings together fragmented glass, china and upcycled objects into a cohesive whole. I love how the shape and placement of mosaic pieces and the colour of grout can transform the energy of a design.

A short course with Elaine Goodwin started off my mosaic journey over two decades ago. But except for another day long workshop with Caroline Jariwala of Mango Mosaics, I'm self taught. I've largely learnt my craft through trial and error, making pieces for my own home and presents for friends. Recurrent themes that often seem to pop up in are nature, spirituality and, of course, the sea! I take inspiration from the proud tradition of folk artists, who like me, have no formal art education.

My work can be seen on Instagram, Facebook and in my Etsy shop at Heartfelt Mosaics. I am also happy to work on individually commissioned pictures, splashbacks, fireplaces and house signs.
