I am a self-taught mosaic artist and have been making mosaics since 2021.I have always been a keen artist, specialising mainly in painting and drawing, and have a degree in Illustration.
As someone who has always gravitated toward a very realistic style, I have found mosaic art particularly freeing as it has enabled me to explore shape, pattern and colour in a looser way, without limiting myself to creating as accurate a representation of my subject as possible.
My earlier mosaics focused mainly on pattern and colour and whilst I still enjoy creating more abstract pieces, recently and since my confidence has grown, I have felt inspired to create more pictorial mosaics, my first being a mosaic of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.I now have a head full of ideas about what I would like to create next, but have to work around my day job and busy family life! One day I would love to be creating art full time.
