I am inspired by the words of Cleo Mussi 'without breakers there are no makers’.
My focus is on the organisation and re-organisation of fragments of materials to create something new. I mix traditional methods with more unconventional ways of working.
I use glass, ceramic tiles, old crockery, sea glass, wire….basically anything that seems right for the spirit of the piece.
Much of my work is inspired by creatures….I am a passionate lover of dogs, and have created several pet portrait commissions. I try to inject personality into my pieces with a touch of humour where appropriate.
Alongside mosaics, currently I am developing my practice sculpturally in wire, both within a mosaic framework and also as stand alone pieces.
